What is the difference between a manager and an agent for actors?
Manager: Manages do not book jobs. They manage an actor's career.

Agent: Submits the actor for auditions. Books jobs.

Let me break it down as to how I have been managed before and how I work now as a manager. Many actors have managers. When I moved to Los Angeles I looked for a manager first. This is the person that helped "manage" my career. He and I spoke of what my goals with acting were and the steps we would take together to find an agency that would work best for me. He made sure I was being trained properly, resume and headshots were professional and current and then, through his contacts, submitted my information to agencies for me once I was ready to seek representation. He was my go-between. Once I signed with an agency I still kept in close contact with my manager. He stayed very much a part of my career. When I would have a big audition scheduled my manager would either read "study" with me or suggest someone to help me prepare for the audition.

What is the difference between a "manager" and a "mother agency"?

A manager is the title used in acting. Mother agency is the title used in modeling. They both work the same way. Manage the talent's career.

What is the difference between the commission taken for modeling and acting?

The commissions are about the same but taken care of differently.

In modeling the agency that books a job for you will take 20% commission from your gross profit on each job. They will then pay your "mother agency" a % of their commission. Generally 5%.

Commercial and theatrical agencies generally take 10% to 15% commission from the actor's gross profit of a job. It is then the actor's responsibility to pay their manager 5% of the gross profit. This is done mainly because some actor's do not have managers and the actor's that do chose to have someone manage their career pay them directly.

What is the cost of the on-going classes?

The cost is $120 per month. Paid by the first class of each month.

10% discount if 3 months are paid in advance.

10% discount for a family of 2 or more.

If you bring a friend or refer someone you will receive 1 month free after 3 months of their participation.

We have based the monthly fee on a 4 week cycle. Every other month there would be a 5th class that falls with the month. This would be considered a "free" class or a "makeup" if you have missed. The only time we prorate is when you first register for our classes in the middle of your first month.

There are no contracts or requirements for attendance. We do ask if you are going to skip a month to please give us notice so that we may prepare the schedule.

The majority of the money for the acting classes can be made through various fund raisers our students participate in. We like the fund raisers for several reasons.

1. It helps families with the cost of classes.

2. Gives some of the responsibility to the students to help pay for their activities.

3. Talent working together to organize and participate in events outside of the classroom.

4. The best kind of advertisement there it!

Do I have to attend the classes every month?
No, you do not have to attend every month. I do ask that you give me some advanced notice if you will not be attending so I can work on the month's outline. You come to all or as many months as you would like. This is for you. As your manager, my job is to make sure your resume is ready and you have some classes behind you before I would feel comfortable submitting you to agencies. (If this is your goal)

Do I have to sign a contract?
There are no contracts for the classes. If you are interested in taking your acting to the next level you would then sign a "manager's" contract stating I am working as your manager. I would then prepare and submit your picture and resume to clients and agencies.
